What does IOSH training include?
The course syllabus varies depending on the course, but both emphasize these key elements:
a) Identifying hazards
As part of the Working Safely course, you’ll learn about a variety of hazards, including mechanical, physical, chemical, environmental, biological, and organizational hazards. The Managing Safely course examines hazards from an industry perspective and covers topics such as location, activity, substance, and equipment
b) Defining and assessing risks
Both courses guide learners through the risk assessment process and use a simple scoring system to use during assessments. Both also seek to underline that even simple, repetitive tasks can result in serious risks.
c) Improving health and safety performance
Looking at systems and processes, this topic investigates a wide range of workplace safety issues including inspections, permits, protective equipment, signage and emergency procedures to demonstrate how checking performance across these aspects can help to reduce risk.
